Although accidents and injuries are maybe unavoidable, much of the physical damage and suffering from them may, in many cases, be avoided or mitigated with chiropractic care. Because acccidents cause vertrebral subluxation complexes in the body, a serious condition that distorts your structure; irritates nerves; bones; ligaments and discs and can damage your overall health. Any accident, no matter how mild, can create nerve-damaging vertebral subluxations. Does this old slang sound familiar? "You'll have to live with it"?

Based on medical statistics, over half of the victims of auto accidents never fully recover under medical (including orthopedic) care. There is still pain, disability and other constant reminders that you were hurt and haven't fully healed. These people need to know that a very important of their care is still missing.

Arthritis and "Rheumatism"

Arthritis is a disease of the whole body (a systemic disease) that is most dramatically seen in the joints. Osteoarthritis (OA) is also called degenerative joint disease. OA is also considered the result of too much spinal stress that creates wear and tear on the joints. It’s often a sign of spinal column dysfunction. Bone growths called spurring or lipping which are signs of OA, may be a body defense – the body is trying to strengthen an area by building up more bone. Sometimes the bony growth may compress nerves, cause pain, and affect the health of internal organs. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) is a crippling arthritis that can destroy joints and affect the heart, blood vessels, eyes, skin, muscles, and other organs. Growing evidence has led many researchers to believe that RA is an immune system (autoimmune) disease; the body is attacking itself because the immune system is malfunctioning. Chiropractors are trained to conduct an analysis to identify subluxations through carefully researching a patient’s history to uncover personal habits that may have contributed to the development of the condition. Chiropractors have observed positive changes and improvement in arthritis in many of their arthritic patients.

Workers’ Compensation plans reveal that more than twice as many claims are filed for back “sprains and strains” than any other category of injury. Although 30% of all claims are for back problems, the chronic (long-term) nature of these conditions gives to 60% of all compensation paid. Chiropractic has been a blessing to millions with back problems, often saving them from pain, disability, drugs, and surgery. The chiropractor’s job is to make the spine healthier by correcting vertebral subluxations and relieving spinal nerve damage. This may make the difference between health and disability, comfort and pain.

Studies have shown chiropractic care to be one of the most beneficial and cost effective procedures for lower back complaints. It would therefore appear that the prudent thing for those with back injuries and lower back sprains/strains should be to visit a doctor of chiropractic before resorting to more costly methods that can be less effective and more traumatic to the body. Why does chiropractic have such an enviable record in low back pain? While painkillers, muscle relaxers, braces, physical therapy, and surgery may provide temporary relief from the problem, they are not designed to correct vertebral subluxations—chiropractic is!
